I made contact with Simon from his web address, I needed a cartoon of a wheelie bin with arms and face etc also it had to show movement and look environmentally friendly: I am not very good with written words and I thought he will never understand what I am asking for, but within no time he sent me a sketch: I was amazed as it was just what I had pictured in my mind.

I approached Simon last year as I wanted a design for a charity Christmas card. As a mouth cancer sufferer I am constantly trying to raise funds for this little known cancer. I gave Simon a rough idea of what I wanted -something that would reflect the side effects of the illness but portrayed in a humorous way, if at all possible! In no time at all he came up with the perfect cartoon: three cheeky wise men carrying gold, frankincense and soup, all beautifully drawn in cheerful colours. I was looking for an illustrator for the Fire Station Buddies first book - The Legend. I sent Simon the story, pictures of the buddies and the fire trucks at our station and he brought the Buddies to life. I was not even sure what I wanted when we started and I told Simon to feel free to make suggestions.

Once we started working, it came together very quickly and turned out perfect.

Simon did a logo and each Buddy has his own illustration for the web page and all of this will be used for other merchandise that will be developed in the future. The book is now at the printers and will soon be used to raise money for volunteer fire departments in the US.
