I was looking for an illustrator for the Fire Station Buddies first book - The Legend. I sent Simon the story, pictures of the buddies and the fire trucks at our station and he brought the Buddies to life. My name is Kenneth Rose and I'm the Director of Sales & Marketing for a mid sized manufacturing company located just outside of Dublin Ireland. Recently I was contemplating a method to market a new service we had taken on.

Although we've not met in person, I can best describe Simon as a value added asset. I made contact with Simon from his web address, I needed a cartoon of a wheelie bin with arms and face etc also it had to show movement and look environmentally friendly: I am not very good with written words and I thought he will never understand what I am asking for, but within no time he sent me a sketch: I was amazed as it was just what I had pictured in my mind.

I first was inspired to write my children's book in Paris in 2004. I got the writing portion done within four months, and then the task began to find the proper illustrations. There are many different types of illustrators out there, and different approaches. For my book, geared to K-6 grades, I needed something that would appeal across the board, and quality, but most of all, fun. I started searching different books, styles, and ran across the Puzzle Donkey website, and that is how I found and selected Simon and his work.

I was able to convey my basic ideas easily with Simon, and we did all of this with him in Europe, me in California. My book is always commented on, and the children love the illustrations.
